Microdosing Meditation: 4 Keys to Awakening in Daily Life
It used to be that people took large doses of things like LSD and Magic Mushrooms, then went on a journey that was very different than their day-to-day life. If you’ve ever done such a thing, you know it can be very valuable. Yet, the whole point of such “trips” is to gain insight and experiences that can help one live a joyous, authentic life. Unfortunately, it can be hard to integrate such intense experiences into our busy lives. Thus, the microdosing movement was born.
When microdosing a drug, the idea is to take a very small amount of a psychedelic and then proceed with an ordinary day. In my previous article at Medium.com called, “Microdose Therapy,” (https://medium.com/p/394bf9f698c8/edit) I discussed the various benefits and uses of taking very small amounts of drugs. While microdosing psychedelics is now quite popular, the idea of microdosing meditation is quite new. As with taking small amounts of psychedelics, microsdosing meditation refers to engaging in “micro-meditations” during one’s daily life. Instead of separating oneself from daily life for 20 to 60 minutes a day to meditate, a microdoser of meditation might do twenty mini-meditations a day that perhaps last just twenty seconds to two minutes each.
