One Minute Methods to Calm Covid-19 Fears
Stress, fear, and uncertainty will be our daily companions for a while. In this new era, it’s important to realize that the coronavirus is not our only enemy. According to the American Medical Association, 80 to 90% of all disease is stress-related. Stress is another word for fear. As Franklin Delano Roosevelt famously said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” …So, if you don’t want you or your loved ones to get sick, become better at handling stress, anxiety, and fear.
Like eating, managing anxiety and fear is not something you do one time and then say it’s forever handled. You may need to manage your worrying thoughts and fearful emotions several times each day. As a psychotherapist, I see that some of my patients need to interrupt their worrying thoughts even a few times an hour. Therefore, I’ve come up with three powerful ways to manage anxiety and fear that take just one minute each to do. By doing any or all of these simple methods, you can feel better, boost your immunity, and tap into a clearer state of mind so you’re better able to handle this crisis.
