The 5 Best Ways to Overcome Writer’s Block
All writers have experienced staring at a page, not knowing what to write. As a book writing coach, I hear a lot about how stressful this experience can be. Fortunately, there are a lot of easy and great remedies for this common malady. As an author of 14 published books, I once had to deal with my share of writer’s block. Yet, over time, I learned five specific strategies for overcoming it. Once you find a strategy that works for you, you’ll soon be churning out more articles and books.
1. Write Sloppy:
One simple way to overcome writer’s block is to simply allow yourself to write sloppily. Most writer’s block is the result of trying to write well, yet if you give yourself permission to write poorly or sloppily, it often helps you break through any stuck energy you may have been experiencing. Besides, giving yourself permission to write sloppily is kind of fun. In addition, you may find that your “sloppy writing” not only overcomes a block, but it occasionally produces words of creative inspiration.
2. Write for 5X5:
I’ve told dozens of writers about this next idea, and many swear by it. All you need to do to overcome writer’s block is to commit to writing for at least 5 minutes 5 times a week.
